Worry is an emotion that we cannot avoid in our lives, as there is always something in our lives to worry about. Everyone who is reading this is worrying or has been worrying because of the present situation of the world. With the rise of the pandemic in the world, everybody is worried about how they are going to get through another day. Worrying is something all of us do even in the absence of a worldwide pandemic. It is mostly a part of our lives and most of the times we don’t even recognize the fact that we are consumed by worry. We would even find ourselves in situations where we would not be able to do any work at house or where we study just because something else was running at the back of our mind that constantly kept bothering us. It may be some situation we couldn’t figure out a solution for. Anything for that matter it’s not about what keeps us worried but rather the fact that we choose to worry. Do you ever think that you could be someone whose life has everything figured out and you don’t have to worry about anything? I believe and know that that is how Jesus wants us to live our lives. Because when Jesus died on the cross for all our sins he freed us from death itself and I don’t think there is anything scarier than death in anyone’s life, that we need to worry all the time. He wants us to enjoy that freedom that he has paid for. You know it’s like someone paying for a product you buy at the store and you not using the product. Well the loser isn’t the salesman or the one who bought it for you, the only one who loses is you because you didn’t use the product. But I’m afraid that’s what we all do when we worry. Well, it’s easy on my side to just say worrying is wrong when only you know the pain that you go through when certain things don’t work out the way you planned it to be and when things aren’t supposed to happen but they happen. I know that it is very hard to go through tough situations but not worry about it, since it is all that you can do. I was a person who used to worry all the time. I would always think that the worst is going to happen and out of my worrying in my head, I won’t even do what I’m supposed to do. I have been the victim of worrying countless times in my life. I think worrying is a burden in our lives that most of us tend to carry all the time. If you are someone who worries a lot then I encourage you to continue reading this scripture from Matthew 6: 25-34
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:25-34
Here we read Jesus comparing us to the birds of the air and the flowers and says that we are more valuable than they and that if they are taken care of by the Father then the Father will definitely meet all our needs. There are two important things that Jesus says here that will help us not to worry. 1. Can anyone of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? 2. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. What Jesus is saying is this, 1. there is no point in worrying about things you can’t control 2. all we need to do is seek Him and things that pertain to Jesus. Jesus does not want us to worry but rather wants us to seek Him at all times. Because in this text He promises us that when we seek the Kingdom of God, He will give us all these things that we worry about. And when God promises something you can be sure that he will do it. I am a living testimony of that truth. I too was struggling with worry, because it was a big part of my life that was a huge burden for me. Whenever I face any situation I would only worry that the worst would happen. But Jesus told me to seek Him and I wouldn’t say I was successful in the beginning but I forced myself into always having my focus on Jesus and not on anything else and that helped me a lot. Today I can boldly say that I am not the person who I used to be. I don’t worry anymore and can face a given situation with confidence and courage cause I know that my God is with me and what more do I need to face that situation. Maybe today you are worried that you are midst of the sea and feel like you’re in the middle of the storm and rage and all you can feel is discomfort and anxiousness just like peter felt when he walked on the water. When you feel like worrying is the only option left and there is no more hope left, I want you to know the fact that as long as peter saw Jesus and walked on the water he didn’t even know he was walking one unfathomable miracle. But when he looked around and saw the raging sea and the storm he went down into the sea. Today I want you to choose to look at Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, I want you to focus on the creator even when all you are going through literally Is a storm in your life, cause guess what you are the living miracle who is walking on water that no science can reason with.
-ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SEEK THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND ALL WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU-
